      The Poem

If I could be in you
      and stay there
      I wouldn’t want
      to dance to music
      crave raspberries
      and artichokes
      bother
      to be appalled
      by sushi
      and mayonnaise
      sing to myself
      from pain.

      I’m not sure
      but I'm guessing
      I wouldn’t be so
      interested in exploring
      the potencies
      of Grappa
      seeing Allen
      and Grand Streets
      as poetry.

      I wouldn’t
      need poetry
      I’d be the poem.

Don't You Hate It When ... is a chapbook of ten poems with a clear plastic cover and high tech velo binding.

Excerpt from Don't You Hate It When ...

      Becalmed At The Equator

      The inertia of desire
      and action carried out
      pulls me back
      makes an object
      not a motion.

      Night visions dripping
      becoming drops of sleep
      of inadequacy
      jerks of consciousness
      of fright.

      But the tops of buildings
      are inspiring
      bricks and bay windows
      reflect the hazy proteins
      that compose me
      reminding me to remember.
